Lectio Inauguralis Fondazione Romeo ed Enrica Invernizzi in Innovation Management
The Lectio Inauguralis, dedicated to innovation and emerging challenges in the third machine age, was delivered by Professor Gianmario Verona, an expert in Innovation Management and President of the Human Technopole Foundation, as well as Chair holder of the new academic position.
During his talk, Professor Verona explored the profound transformations that predictive and generative Artificial Intelligence is bringing to the corporate world. He highlighted how these technologies are opening up new perspectives for value creation, but he also highlighted the difficulties that many companies still face in adopting these innovations, due to a skills gap and a natural resistance to change.
The event opened at 6:15 p.m. with welcome greetings from Rector Francesco Billari and Giuseppe Bertoni, President of the Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Foundation. Afterwards, Professor Verona kicked off the Lectio Inauguralis “Firms and Innovation in the Third Machine Age”.
The discussion continued with a panel of experts moderated by Daniele Manca, Deputy Editor of Corriere della Sera, and featuring industry and institutional leaders, including Sergio Dompé (CEO, Dompé farmaceutici), Monica Iacono (CEO, Engie), Luca Mignini (Professor of Practice, Bocconi University), Marcella Panucci (Chief of Cabinet, Ministry of University and Research), and Marco Tronchetti Provera (Executive Vice President, Pirelli).
The chair will not only be a center for theoretical studies, but a real innovation laboratory, as Professor Verona's words show: “Our research will focus on how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the development of new products and business models. The goal is to understand how companies can address epochal challenges, such as sustainability and technological change, through effective innovation governance.”
