Leonardo has always believed in young people, in their potential and in their contribution to society. We share these values with Bocconi and are committed to supporting the talents of tomorrow by removing any financial barriers. I will follow this project closely to ensure that every student knows we are by their side, ready to support them in achieving their dreams.

The Leonardo Del Vecchio Foundation was established out of Leonardo Del Vecchio’s desire to leave a concrete and lasting mark on the social fabric, giving back part of the success he built over the course of his extraordinary entrepreneurial career. Through support for social impact projects, initiatives aimed at vulnerable communities, and interventions in emergency situations, the Foundation works with constant commitment both in Italy and abroad.

The principle of "giving back" lies at the heart of the Foundation’s mission, reflecting the personal story of Leonardo Del Vecchio, who led one of the most important industrial groups in the sector. The Foundation is his way of sharing with society — and especially with those most in need — the fruits of his work, by supporting causes capable of generating a positive and lasting impact.

This vision takes shape in the partnership with Bocconi University, which embodies the idea of investing in talent and in the future. With the creation of the Leonardo Del Vecchio Students Award, the Foundation reinforces its commitment to education by offering deserving students with limited financial means the opportunity to access excellent academic training. Thanks to this initiative, at least 10 students each year will be able to begin their academic journey at Bocconi, transforming their potential into concrete opportunities.

Another tangible sign of this collaboration is the permanent naming of the “Velodromo” building after Cavaliere Leonardo Del Vecchio, which will retain this name for as long as it exists. Located between Via Roentgen and Piazza Sraffa, the Velodromo currently hosts university classrooms and serves as a tribute to Leonardo Del Vecchio’s significant contribution to the world of business and education.

As a further confirmation of its trust in the University, its mission, and its resource management, the Foundation has also chosen to contribute to Bocconi’s endowment. This long-term investment fund generates an annual return that ensures the independence and sustainability of Bocconi’s activities over time.

This collaboration reflects the alignment between the values of the Foundation and those of the University: the belief that merit and access to knowledge are essential tools for building a better future — not only for individual students, but for society as a whole.
